Does My Estate Agent Need To Advertise My Property For Sale In The Local Newspapers?
Does My Estate Agent Need To Advertise My Property For Sale In The Local Newspapers?
A few years ago all Estate Agents advertised all properties that were for sale in the local newspapers. In fact if you were looking for a home a few years ago, you absolutely had to buy the local paper and ensure that you kept up to date with which properties were being sold and which you liked the look of most. Usually there was only one tiny little photo and then a brief description of the house and this was all you had to go on when choosing which properties to view.
Or, if you couldn’t seen any in the local newspapers, then you could go into the Estate Agents and simply spend ages browsing through the photos and descriptions that they had of all the properties that were on their books. Many people really disliked going into the Estate Agents because they felt that there was always a little bit of pressure and you were never really just left to browse. A member of staff would always try to ‘help’ which often just wasn’t wanted. But those days have gone now!
The Internet has completely changed how we buy houses and properties. Instead of having to wait till Thursday or Friday when the local newspaper comes out, people now search online and have access to all properties for sale on a 24/7 basis. You can check up on a property literally any time of the day or night. So there is no need to advertise a property within the local newspaper. As long as the property is advertised on the Internet, then it has the potential to reach a much, much wider audience than it would if it were advertised in the papers.
The Power of the ‘For Sale’ Board
Another powerful means of advertising or property for sale is actually the For Sale board. People are often attracted to houses by the For Sale sign and once they have made a note of the Estate Agents and the locality then they will go home and check the details on the Internet or they will do it immediately on their smart phone.
Word of Mouth
The final way that properties can be advertised is simply through word of mouth. If someone knows that someone else is looking for property then they will often pass on details of any properties that they think may be suitable. This is quite traditional, but it is still a good ways of hearing about properties that may be very well suited to your needs.
However, when it comes to the local newspaper very, very few people actually check the property details there. If you go online you can see details of the houses for sale, you can have a virtual tour of the houses, you can have a look at the garden and you can even check out the rest of the street so compared to the information that you would get in a local paper the Internet really does have all the answers and that is why had such a popular way of finding houses and properties. So forget about using local newspapers and concentrate on ensuring or your property has a good profile on the Internet!
