How Can I Tell If A Quick Property Buyer is Trustworthy?
How Can I Tell If A Quick Property Buyer is Trustworthy?
Sometimes companies that buy properties very quickly have a reputation for being slightly shady and perhaps not all that trustworthy. In a sense this is rather unfair because the companies that specialise in buying properties very quickly often perform a role that is exceptionally valuable to someone who is being forced to sell their home because they are facing repossession or are unable to keep up the mortgage repayments due to bereavement or to always etc. But it is wise to be sceptical up about quicker property buyers and to assess how trustworthy they are! So here are some things that you should look for!
Contact Details
Your home is a really valuable asset and as such you will need to sell it to someone that you can trust. If you were to arrange to sell your home to a company that only provides an Email address or a mobile telephone number then you could well be asking for trouble. Any reputable company will provide you with contact details that include a landline telephone number and an address. If the company will not provide you with an address then it is better to walk away and assume that they are not particularly trustworthy.
Company Registration Number
Any reputable company will be able to provide you with a company registration number. If they cannot provide you with the company registration number then you are better to assume that they are not a properly registered company and you ought to avoid using this kind of company.
Written Code of Practice
Any reputable company will also be able to provide you with their written code of practice. This details how they operate and how you will treat you. If you cannot find access to their written code of practice on their website and the company does not seem to be willing to send you their code then it is best to avoid this company because if they were any good then they would make this information readily available.
Complaints
A good company will deal with complaints in a manner that is efficient and effective. If a company refuses or is unwilling to demonstrate how it deals with complaints ie they do not make their complaints policy directly available to potential customers, then it is unlikely that they deal with complaints fairly. In fact you may find that they have so many complaints that they are unable to deal with them effectively and as such you should just walk away.
Testimonials
Some people are sceptical about testimonials on websites because they feel they can be rigged. However, if a website uses testimonials then it may have to produce the original documentation if you lodge a formal complaint about the company. This means that any testimonial used by the company should be bona fide and so you should be able to trust them.
Gut Instinct
Sometimes you will just have a feeling about a company and if you get a bad feeling about a company or you feel that something just isn’t quite right, then don’t believe the testimonials but simply walk away before you sign up. It is not logical but sometimes these feelings really ought to be trusted!
